Art Therapy for SeniorsThe Hands-On Seminar for Healthcare Professionals This recreational activity program demonstrates the practical application of art as a recovery therapy. Combining classroom and hands-on experienceThis special training provides practical information on how to work with Alzheimer’s and dementia patients, and low-to-mid functioning adults by home care providers and healthcare professionals. The two-day training uniquely combines both classroom and a hands-on lab experience working directly with challenged residents in the assisted living program and healthcare facility.

Who Should AttendThis training is especially designed for activity personnel, nurses, therapeutic recreation therapists and other healthcare providers working in long-term facilities. It is also beneficial for people helping a parent with dementia who lives at home.
CEU Credit11 continuing educational credits will be awarded for completing the course. CEUs are units towards certification in recreational therapy modalities and activity programming. |
The InstructorElizabeth Cockey holds BA degrees in both Art and Psychology and Master’s degree in Art therapy. She has worked as a recreational therapist for over 13 years in the Baltimore area and is the author of Drawn from Memory—A Personal Story of Healing Through Art. Elizabeth has achieved national acclaim for her work with dementia patients and her ability to help them recover from isolation, depression and memory loss.
